EXCURSIONS & ROUND TRIPS

Greek food at home? You can make soutzoukakia smyrnaika.

Ingredients (6 pers.): 700 gr minced meat (beef), 1 small chopped onion, 2 garlic cloves (crushed), ½ ts ground cumin, salt, pepper, oil, little dry bread crumbs, ½ green pepper, Tabasco, 1 tb ketchup, peeled and diced tomatoes (fresh or tin).

Mix in a bowl the meat, onion, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper and oil. Put the mixture for half an hour in the fridge. Form small oblong balls and fry in pan. Take them from the pan and fry in the same oil the pepper. Add tomatoes. Add cumin, garlic, salt, pepper, Tabasco and ketchup. Let boil for about 15 minutes. Add the meatballs and leave the pot on the stove until it is completely hot.
Serve with rice and a Greek salad.

- one will understand more of the pure Greek culture (think of the olive picking in the winter)
- one can expect more attention and a more personal treatment everywhere
- Greece has a temperate climate with average winter temperature in Athens around 10 ⁰C. In mountainous areas temperatures drop. Snow fall on the summits occurs very often and provides beautiful landscapes
- natural environment is very beautiful in winter months. In March spring flowers are abundant
- active holidays and archaeological trips are very suitable in winter when heat is avoided
- and… prices will be lower at many destinations.
