Driving in Greece

driving in Greece is on the right side of the road.
maximum speed on the highway is 120 km/hr, but one sees +40 km and -40 km.
wearing seat belts in compulsory for the front seats.

there are tolls on the highways to Thessaloniki, Patras, Tripoli and on the Ring of Athens.
road signs are in Greek and in Latin characters.
manual cars are common, but renting an automatic car is possible.
Greece is a mountainous country and one should choose a car that fits the family and has enough power to ascend.
Also in winter, Greece is a perfect destination for fly & drives with temperatures that rarely drop below zero.

Renting a car is only allowed for those:

who have their driving license for at least 1 year.
who are at least 23 years old.
who have a credit card.
all car rentals include CDW-insurance (FDW-insurance available at surcharge).
